SLIP Orientation 2

Our next Orientation will be Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough (201 17th Street, Suite 1700, Atlanta, GA 30363).  The orientation will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and conclude  no later than 10:45 a.m. All interns must be on time and dressed professionally.  You will need to bring two copies of your completed Enrichment (and any extra assignments).  Anyone not on time or not dressed  professionally or not having completed their Enrichment will be subject to dismissal.
 
For those driving to Nelson Mullins on for the Orientation on Thursday, June 1 at 830 a.m. you should make sure to park in unmarked Visitor’s spaces and not in prohibited /reserved spaces or those marked only for 2 hours.  If the space is labeled 2 hours only, please do not park there.  We do not want anyone to receive a violation. Please bring your parking ticket with you. We will try to validate your parking but can give no assurances on that.  The first two hours of parking are free and then $5 for the next two hours.

Important Information for the First Orientation

Greetings 2017 Atlanta Bar Summer Law Interns:

We are looking forward to seeing you at our first Orientation for the 2017 Atlanta Bar Association Summer Law Internship Program on  Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at noon at the State Bar of Georgia (104 Marietta Street, Atlanta, GA 30303).   [This is a different locale from where you were interviewed.] For those that are driving please plan to bring funds for parking.  We will try to cover parking for Orientations but cannot assure that. For those taking Marta, the CNN and Five Points MARTA are nearby.
You are required to be dressed according to the attached dress code at all intern events including the mandatory Orientation sessions.  Failure to comply with the dress code  will subject you to being released.

Please review the Do’s and Don’t’s  attached hereto.  I am also again attaching the 2017 Intern schedule.
Please also review everything that has been provided to you previously, including our Intern Website.
You will have a Progress Test during the first Orientation.
Again, we are excited to have you intern in the 2017 Atlanta Bar Association Summer Law Internship Program.

Expectations for Orientations/All Intern Meetings

1. Be early. (Early is on time; on time is late.)

2. Be prepared to the maximum.
(Know your Enrichment and all other materials provided to you or on the Intern website (www.SLIP25.blogspot.com))

3. When you arrive please make sure to sign in and turn in your Enrichment and all other submissions that are due.

4. Be dressed professionally.
(If you have a doubt whether what you are wearing is appropriate then do not wear it.)

5. Advise your family and friends you will not be allowed to be on your phone during Intern meetings.

6. Be prepared to be called upon to answer questions including a frequent interview question. – “Please tell me about yourself.”

7. Although we will try to validate parking we cannot promise that will happen. Thus, if you are driving, please bring $10 for parking.

8. Please bring two (2) copies of all submission. You will keep one copy in your file and turn in the other.

9. A light meal will be served at all meetings. After you sign in, we invite you to eat. (Please act like you have eaten before.) If you have special dietary needs, please let us know and we will endeavor to address them.

10.At each meeting, you are required to sit with or beside people you do not know or go to school with. You are required to sit with different Interns at each meeting. You are expected to make an effort to get to know your fellow Interns.
